**Youth Center office opens at 11 am daily (M-F) for parent convenience. (Doors may open later due to training, meetings, etc.)

The Youth Center (YC) follows the Lawton Public Schools (LPS) school calendar, opening 1 pm on days schools are closed.

Camps are offered during LPS breaks (Fall, Winter & Spring) 7 am-1pm. Camps are based on DoD Fee Policy, registration is required for all camps.

Youth of the Year

YoY- Reagan

Reagan Pyles won Military Youth of the Year for Fort Sill Youth Center in March 2014.  She went onto the Oklahoma City Youth of the Year event at the end of March and won 2nd place.

Reagan is a junior at MacArthur High School and will be a senior for the 2014-2015 school year. She is the Vice President of the Teen Council for the Youth Center, Vice President of French Club, and a Leader for  Vacation Bible School. Reagan is also involved in Junior ROTC, Partners club, Key club, and Student Council.  Reagan plans to attend University of South Carolina and aspires to be a physical therapist.

The Fort Sill Youth Center (YC) offers a broad range of education and recreational opportunities for Fort Sill youth in 6th through 12th grade in the following four service areas:

  • Sports, Fitness and Health Options
  • Life Skills, Citizenship and Leadership Opportunities
  • Arts, Recreation and Leisure Activities
  • Mentoring, Intervention and Academic Support Services

Boys and Girls Clubs of America, 4-H and Character Counts affiliations incorporate fun, diverse and youth driven activities. Coupled with the above, a safe supportive environment and staff provide the springboard for youth and teens to reach their fullest potential as capable, competent and caring citizens.

 

Registration/Program Fees/Snacks and Meals

  • FREE registration for eligible youth in grades 6-12 can be processed The Fort Sill Youth Center, BLDG 1010, (580) 442-6745 or at Parent Central Services, BLDG 4700, (580) 442-3486.
  • FREE program access of the Youth Center, with the exception of: Break Camps (Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer), and some Special Events/Field Trips. Fees vary on the scope of the activity.
  • FREE USDA snacks are provided daily during afternoon programming throughout the year. FREE breakfast and lunch are also provided during break camps.
  • The center is available to all authorized Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation patrons including Active Duty Military, Retired Military, National Guard and Reserves, DoD Civilian Employees and non-DoD Contracted Employees who work on Fort Sill.

 

Youth Center Features

Our new state of the art facility designed specifically for the youth population at Fort Sill features many amenities for youth to take advantage of, including:

  • Games and Leisure Activities: Self-directed activities provide opportunities for youth to experience a variety of leisure, art, social, and skill building techniques.
  • Technology Lab: Provides opportunities for homework support, email, internet research, and games as well as the chance to gain technical skills while learning to effectively use a variety of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Homework Center: A certified teacher assists with tutoring and homework in a quiet learning environment.
  • Individual Sports, Group Sports, and Fitness Activities: Team and individual sports provide youth with opportunities to develop physical and social skills, leisure time interests, leadership, and teamwork.

Fight the Enemy Video Contest

Fort Sill area teens age 13-18 have the opportunity to use their creativity to encourage their peers to stop tobacco use before it starts. Fort Sill is one of eight military installations world-wide sponsoring a “Fight the Enemy” video contest. At least one team member must be military connected.

Videos must be less than 30 seconds long and entries must be uploaded by October 31. The top two videos from Fort Sill will compete against the top videos from other installations. National winners will be announced November 20 in conjunction with the Great American Smokeout Day.

Prizes for the top three entries include MWR Gift Certificates of $750, $500, and $250 to be used toward the cost of an event.
