Can you ride the Kelvinator?
Off-road cyclists can ride a network of military roads, double track, rocky very technical singletrack and smooth singletrack through some forest. Riders will ride up very tough climbs, both single and doubletrack. The course ranges from 12 to 17 miles and several riders end up walking their bikes up the lengthy inclines, definitely not for beginners. Aid stations are on the course and provide water for riders and any hardy spectators
The Hills of Hell is held every year at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The event begins with a free off-road short track race and a social featuring a remote radio feed, pizza and beverages. The riders can opt for the 17.8 mile road race and the off-road event. New riders are always encouraged to pre-ride the course but must first attend a one hour range safety course and should call the Range office at 580-442-3453/3553 to sign up for the class held at Building 1459 on Fort Sill.
